Terms of Service

Last updated: October 1, 2026

1. Scope and Definitions

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the autoscout.vin website and its vehicle history report services (collectively, the “Service”). Throughout these Terms, “autoscout.vin,” “we,” “our,” and “us” refer to the service provider, while “you” and “your” refer to the person accessing or using the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Reports are generated using the vehicle identification number (VIN) or other supported vehicle identifiers supplied by the customer. Our reports are intended for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal, financial, or professional advice. autoscout.vin is not a substitute for a certified vehicle inspection or an independent mechanical assessment.

3. Orders and Report Access

To purchase a report, you must provide the required vehicle information and a valid payment method. Orders are processed after successful payment authorization.

Reports are delivered electronically through the access method specified at checkout. The report language and estimated delivery time will be communicated through the relevant service information.

autoscout.vin reserves the right to reject or cancel an order where reasonably necessary, including in cases of suspected fraud, payment issues, or technical problems. If an order is cancelled by us after payment, any applicable refund will be handled in accordance with our Refund Policy and applicable law.

4. Pricing and Payments

Prices are displayed in euros (EUR) unless otherwise stated at checkout. Applicable taxes, fees, and payment conditions will be disclosed where required.

Payments are processed through the payment providers identified during checkout. Accepted payment methods depend on the options presented at the time of purchase.

Prices may change without prior notice, but changes will not affect orders that have already been completed and paid for. The final price displayed at checkout applies to your order.

5. Right of Withdrawal and Refunds

Vehicle history reports are digital products. Where permitted by applicable law, customers may be asked to expressly consent to the immediate commencement of digital service delivery and acknowledge the applicable consequences for their statutory right of withdrawal.

Any limitation or loss of a withdrawal right applies only where the relevant legal requirements have been satisfied. Nothing in these Terms excludes mandatory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you may submit a refund request within 30 days of purchase, subject to the applicable Refund Policy. Requests will be assessed according to the circumstances, the terms presented at purchase, and applicable consumer protection laws.

Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method where possible. Processing and posting times may vary depending on the payment provider and financial institution.

6. Report Accuracy and Limitations

Vehicle history reports rely on information supplied by third-party sources. Although autoscout.vin aims to present available information clearly and accurately, we cannot guarantee that every report will contain complete, current, or error-free records.

Some events may not have been reported to the relevant databases or may not be available for retrieval. Consequently, the absence of accident, damage, theft, or other records does not establish that a vehicle has never experienced such events.

Our reports should be considered one source of information when evaluating a vehicle. We recommend verifying important details with relevant authorities and arranging an independent mechanical inspection before purchasing a used car.

7. Intellectual Property

All website content, design elements, software, graphics, branding, and other materials associated with autoscout.vin are owned by or licensed to their respective rights holders and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Reports purchased through the Service are provided for your personal use unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing. You may not reproduce, resell, commercially exploit, redistribute, or publicly publish report content without the necessary authorization, except where permitted by applicable law.

8. Acceptable Use

When using autoscout.vin, you agree not to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or unauthorized information.

  • Use the Service for unlawful activities or purposes.

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract website data without authorization.

  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit reports without permission.

  • Attempt unauthorized access to our systems, accounts, or infrastructure.

  • Interfere with the security, availability, or proper operation of the Service.

  • Use the Service in a manner that infringes the rights of others or violates applicable laws.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, its users, or our legal interests.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, autoscout.vin shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of the Service or reliance on information contained in a vehicle history report.

Where legally permissible, our aggregate liability relating to a particular order will not exceed the amount paid for that order.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law, including applicable consumer protection rights and liability that cannot legally be restricted.

10. Privacy and Data Protection

Autoscout.vin handles personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation, including the GDPR where applicable.

Personal information may be processed to provide reports, manage orders, process payments, maintain security, and fulfill legal obligations. Payment information is handled according to the arrangements and security practices of the payment providers used during checkout.

For further information about data collection, use, retention, and your privacy rights, please consult our Privacy Policy on the autoscout.vin website.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our services, operational practices, or legal requirements. The latest version will be published on our website together with its effective date.

Where required by law, we will provide notice of material changes. Updates will apply in accordance with applicable law, and continued use of the Service will not override any rights that consumers have under mandatory legislation.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are subject to applicable law, including mandatory consumer protection rules that may apply based on your country of residence.

Where legally permissible, German law may govern the contractual relationship. Nothing in this section deprives consumers of mandatory protections afforded by the laws applicable to them or restricts their right to bring proceedings before a court with appropriate jurisdiction.

Customers are encouraged to contact our support team to attempt to resolve disputes directly before pursuing other available remedies.
